Expansion of the Cave Junction medical facility will allow for the hiring of 26.5 Full Time Equivalent employees. Chief Executive Officer for SCHC, Kurt Higuera states “We have provided health care and social services to the Illinois Valley since the early 70’s. This opportunity will assist in the expansion and addition of essential services as well as provide jobs.”

The expansion will add 10,000 sq. ft. to the existing 10,500 sq. ft. facility. Medical providers will be able to see 3,600 additional medical patients each year at full capacity. The number of medical exam rooms will increase from 13 to 25, reducing the waiting time between making an appointment and seeing a provider. The increased access to care will reduce visits to the emergency room and will provide Illinois Valley residents with an alternative to traveling to Grants Pass for medical care.

A new, full-service dental facility with seven operatories will accommodate 2,500 patients each year. Patients who now use the mobile dental unit will no longer have to travel to Grants Pass for more complex restorative and surgical treatments. Illinois Valley residents will have increased access to local dentistry services..

SCHC will also be adding a pharmacy that will provide discounted prescriptions to low-income patients. They will offer a $4 formulary that will benefit the SCHC patients.

The new Outreach facility will have a kitchen that will provide education in nutrition and healthy cooking. The living area in this home-like building will serve as a classroom where parents can learn about childhood development and positive parenting skills. There will be both an indoor and a fenced outdoor play area. Being on the health care campus will encourage proper pre-natal care and immunizations for pregnant women and children. The larger area will allow for an increase in families expected to enroll in the Project Baby Check program.

SCHC will also be able to expand space for behavioral health services, adding two full-time mental health professionals to the Cave Junction facility. Currently, only one provider treats adults two days per month. Additionally, the new providers will help close the gap for insufficient child and adolescent services.

The successful candidate will be able to effectively complete the functions of this position in a team environment. Previous dental experience preferred. Must have strong computers skills, pass background check and drug test. M-F hours vary. We are a drug free workplace. EOE.

Founded in 1973, Siskiyou Community Health Center continues to build healthy communities by providing a wide range of affordable health services. June B. Worthington, DO joined our Cave Junction medical staff on December 5, 2011. A specialist in family practice, Dr. Worthington treats people of all ages. Dr. Worthington has practiced medicine since graduating in the top 10 percent of her class at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri in 1993. She worked as an ER physician in Prineville, and was the Crook County Medical Examiner from 1996 to 2002. Since then, June has worked at community health centers and in private practice throughout the West. When asked what brought her to the valley, she said she loves the rural lifestyle.
