Grants Pass, OR – Siskiyou Community Health Center’s Healthy Start ∼ Healthy Families of Josephine County, an affiliate of Healthy Families America, has recently been accredited as a provider of high quality home visitation services to families who want to improve their child’s health, nutrition and developmental outcomes.
For the past 23 years, Siskiyou Community Health Center’s Outreach programs have offered home visits to Josephine County families with children, whose ages range from newborns to 5 year olds. Healthy Start connects with families through community partners, such as hospitals and pediatricians, in order to provide families and new parents with answers to questions regarding parenting and development.

Accreditation is based upon a stringent peer review process, involving 12 critical elements. The process includes an in-depth examination of the site’s operation, as well as the quality of visits made by home visitors. It was determined that the Siskiyou Community Health Center’s Healthy Start ∼ Healthy Families program is exceeding expectations and has received the highest possible marks for all 12 critical elements.

Peer reviewer Cydney Wessel, Director of HFA Quality Assurance and Accreditation commented, “We commend Siskiyou Community Health Center for opening itself up to such an intensive review process. We believe that all families and all communities deserve access to quality home visitation services.”

“Above all,” says Jacque Doney, Director of Siskiyou Community Health Center’s Outreach programs, “we are honored that these families have allowed us into their homes and their lives. Without them, we would not have been able to achieve such high markings in our programs. Our Outreach families are what make our programs as wonderful as they are.”
