Grants Pass, OR – Siskiyou Community Health Center has received a grant from Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation (CCUIF) for its Healthy Families of Southern Oregon program. The mission of the CCUIF is to help in youth education, strengthen youth and family, provide for positive youth development, and add to the quality of life for people in southwestern Oregon. Grant awards were made to 73 non-profit organizations in southwestern Oregon.

For the past 30 years, Siskiyou Community Health Center’s Healthy Families program has been working with parents during the critical early stages of their children’s lives, from conception to kindergarten. This free and voluntary program embraces learning experiences that are relevant and customized for the individual needs of each family and child. It monitors child development, teaches parents positive parenting skills, monitors home safety and helps families connect to medical care and community services in Josephine and Jackson County. In 2018, the programs served 296 families across Jackson and Josephine Counties. Grants like this will allow them to reach many more families throughout southern Oregon.

“Siskiyou Community Health Center’s Outreach Programs are dedicated to promoting parent-child bonding and attachment, increasing school readiness, and supporting families with health and wellness,” says Jacque Doney, Director of Outreach Programs at Siskiyou Community Health Center.

Siskiyou Community Health Center would like to thank Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation for this grant. With these funds, they will continue to provide an avenue for families of all socioeconomic statuses to gain information and find resources for each stage of the parenting journey.
